The female Unitologist villain happened to bear a striking and very unfortunate resemblance to my cousin, who I love very much and who also happens to follow New Thought spirituality. She is a very gentle and kind young woman, and seeing this twisted unintentional vilification of her, let alone get killed VERY graphically, was what made me hit my breaking point and just hate everything about the modern shooter industry. Coincidence as it was, in the moment it felt like an attack on my family, even if that was totally not the intention.
 
But I understand taking it out on MixerMike was wrong.
 
He is not to blame, the games industry is. Again these bullcrap focus groups seem to decide everything. New Age/New Thought is a very real and legitimate religious movement however comparatively small it is, and I find it incredibly unethical that EA chose to base their “religion of evil” on that instead of their NAMESAKE, Scientology which is in fact a very evil organization, that does terrible things to its followers and anyone who speaks out against it. Because New Agers wouldn’t sue.
 
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’ll go back to playing Quake II and making my own Doom WADs. Id Software would never do this.

They made the Unitologists be New Agers. Because you’re not allowed to speak out against Scientology and expose the horrible things they do to their followers since they’ll just sue you relentlessly for “defamation.” And you’re not allowed to demonize Christians, Muslims or atheists because it’s hate speech. Thanks to EA’s focus groups the developers knew who they could slander without suffering legal troubles.
 
I’m not New Age but my mom was and still is, she raised me that way, and I have great respect for such a gentle, peaceful new religious movement. They’re so peaceful they are totally okay with Christians spreading lies that they worship Satan and arrogant fedora atheists verbally abusing them and outright cheering when prominent members of their movement die.
 
And zombies are the least-scary thing I can imagine, because they’re freaking everywhere in games. But 9 out of 10 focus groups agree they’re the one and only type of monster that can appear in a survival horror for maximum profits.
 
Anyone who enjoys this pathetic marketable, focus group-friendly insult to the sci-fi horror franchise that started it all does not have any good taste. And it’s a damn shame too, since MixerMike was a great animator and great person otherwise, and I used to like Fluffle Puff Tales so much.
 
Focus groups also turned Warhammer 40K into Gears of War and Halo into Call of Duty. The modern games industry is a bloated mess, and eventually it will collapse in on itself.

I don’t like FluffyMixer anymore because he likes Dead Space. I finally played that game and it sucks.
 
As somebody who grew up with the Alien movies and games (AvP 1 and 2 kicked ass back in the day) I don’t like it when people favorably compare the series to Alien. Zombies suck, I’ll take xenomorphs anydays, they’re scarier, way more original, and way more fun to kill.
 
And the Unitologists should have actually been a criticism of Scientology but nope, in practice their religion is based on New Age/New Thought instead because criticizing $cientology would result in its followers suing the developers to death. New Agers are so polite, they let Christians, atheists and pop culture crap all over them, and always turn the other cheek.
 
Thank goodness for Alien: Isolation. I just wish you could kill the alien in it, then it’d be even better.
