I was actually gonna mention strength, but then I realized that claim doesn’t really hold a lot of water: we’ve seen pegasi and unicorn characters show a lot of strength in the show. We’ve seen Rarity carry a boulder on her back. We’ve seen Rainbow Dash muster about as much strength as Applejack.
 
If I were an earth pony the way they were protrayed in the show, I’d feel gypped unless there were a possibility to develop non-magic-based psychic abilities or something.

You should prepare to hear ‘strength’ in the next couple of responses to that question, but I’ve never seen that as universal.
 
In my mind, their capabilities are sort of random instead of usually being based on unicorn magic or flight.
 
Besides, you shouldn’t focus on what they are anyway.
 
A pony’s talent comes from within, not what race they are.

Y’know, I’ve always wondered about this: don’t any of the earth ponies in this show ever feel like they get the shaft compared to their winged and horned brethren?
 
I mean, just what do the earth ponies have over them? Being able to grow crops? I’m sorry but that just sounds like touchy-feely BS to cover up the fact that there’s nothing really all that special about being an earth pony. I would MUCH rather have the ability to either fly or use magic than to dig in the dirt.
 
There either has to be some other advantage they have, or give unicorns and pegasi certain disadvantages that an earth pony wouldn’t have.

AJ’s fear would be her being paralyzed from the waist down; never bucking apples again meaning the farm would make less money. Then apple family would lose their home eventually. Good thing the door is just an illusion.

Yeah she almost won that race, as did AJ because they were both the fastest. They were last but it has nothing to do with abilities and her abilities is what he meant.

What about Discord?

Because we’ve seen Dash functioning without her wings. She nearly won the Running of the Leaves with them literally tied to her sides, and Discord had to take them away just to give himself a half a chance.

I dunno, I don’t buy it. Sure, this would be pretty terrible, but even in a world with weird magic she doesn’t understand I don’t think she’s seriously thinks that one day she’ll wake up and she physically won’t have wings.
 
I would think that not being able to perform and losing others’ admiration and her self-confidence, or letting her friends down because of her own inadequacies (i.e. failing to catch Rarity because she wasn’t fast enough) would be her biggest fears.

Apple Bloom: Applejack leaving the farm for good.
 
Scootaloo: Rainbow Dash telling her to get lost.
 
Sweetie Belle: Singing in front of a crowd and getting stage fright.

Though they might not think of it nowm if the situation were to happen, their greatest fear would be losing their friends and families.

Just think about what Pinkie would do. Her worst fear is being friendless, that door would trap her in an illusion where that would happen.
 
She would probably react worse than she did in Party of One, due to it seeming real to her.

For Fluttershy, probably having her friends making fun of her.
 
Rainbow Dash: Unable to fly.
 
Pinkie Pie: Being alone.
 
Rarity: Losing artistic talent.
 
Applejack: Not so sure.

Pinkie: Being told that the only reason she has friends is because of her parties, and that no pony actually likes her.
 
AJ: Being disowned by her family.
 
Flutters: (…..okay kinda stuck on her.)
 
Rarity: Losing Sweetie Belle. (She’d never admit it out loud but it seems about right)
