It’s obviously a soldering iron, except someone on the staff went and said “hey, guys, we need it to look flashier, let’s add an arc every time she touches the PCB!” Also let’s not kid ourselves into thinking liberal arts college animators can appreciate the difference between soldering and welding any more than little girls.
