You do realize I live on Lake Superior right? I’m in northern ontario on the north shore of the lake; Im aware of how the waters get, and on any bay beach where people swim the waves don’t get pleasantly big like this, in my experience. Not in the summer on days which you would be out at the beach. Its not like the ocean where those waves are like that every day of the week, which was my point
[polite coughing]
Maybe not ocean waves, but any sort of influence by wind or tide combined with the energy of the water coming up into shallow shored will make waves. Lake Superior is deep, great water.
EDIT - And because I keep coming around to defend the anti-serenity of the Great Lakes here, This kitesurfing blog posts makes some interesting comparisons to the oceans between them and the lakes, as written by someone who tackles both.

Thanks <3
i mean not in the summer with no clouds like this; during storms waves can exceed 20 feet easy
Lake superior doesn’t get big waves? Sounds like some famous last words.
