Note the percentage of white of the eye is normally visible. Look at size and position of eye reflections. See color solution for Luna’s iris? All of this makes character’s look “alive”.
Ears… My love, my pain. I clearly understand that this style for ears appeared long before first posters of the movie. But I honesty think that the canon shape of pony ears is one of the prettiest things in the Universe and one of the greatest achievements of friendmagic.

Celestia is a side character, the mane six are the protagonists. IN Virtually every story, the protagonists are the heroes who are meant to save the side characters.
Its a shame, really. All we want is for celestia to be usefull, but that will never happen
Might as well be saying that Rainbow Dash can’t be insecure because she’s designed to be arrogant.
Not to mention that this “mentor” thing makes no sense. Celestia is a mentor, a ruler, a sister (and whatever the production team wants her to be) and the cartoon does none of these right. So… I really don’t see the problem of complaining that Celestia’s role in the cartoon is pretty much “sucking and making way for other characters”.
Then who`s a hero if she is not a hero?
She can’t be a hero because she was never designed to be a hero. That’s not her role in the show.
Nope. She can be mentor and hero at the same time. At different times, or in different ways. The only limitation, really, is creativity. It’s not like Celestia would suddenly be a whole new different character if she did something different. It all adds to the character.
Exactly, so it makes no sense to constantly complain about the fact that she fulfills her role in the story, especially since she has only been worfed in 4 of the 8 2-parters she has appeared in, and only 5 times out of all 30 episodes she’s had a speaking role in.

Looked up to, yes, but not the one saving the day when she commands those that would do a better job backing her up.

Now that it’s out of the way, I think they look pretty nice in the movie’s style.
They’re bigger than they look, I bet. It could also have to do with perception.
