You are right. Pinkie does not have limitations, but she still has a few things that cause a bit of a ruckus. Like when she made the incident of the Mirror Pond. Too Many Pinkie Pies.
 
Starlight has super-special-awesome potential, but I guess she feels scared to go out on her own. Twilight did give her the green light to go and expand her abilities, but she chose to stay. Maybe she feels like she will be lonely for now. But all in good time will things come.
 
This picture I feel tells you that one day someone will leave that you will miss dearly, so be spontaneous and enjoy as much time as possible.

Most people don’t understand that magic doesn’t create the answer. Its just a tool that leads to the answer and Starlight should be taught to use that tool properly instead of just waving it around like a blunt object.
 
When Twilight was faced with the problem of Moondancer, she used magic through and through but not to mind control Moondancer. She used magic to enter her book so she can find ways to make Moondancer open up to her. Mistmane uses magic to beautify things and to make other ponies lives better.
 
Magic is Starlight’s talent. It is the gift destined to her by her cutie mark. A pony’s talents shouldn’t be suppressed. I don’t think its correct of Twilight to tell Starlight not depend on her magic. That’s like telling Rarity to not use her artistic talents to make gifts for her friends. That’s like telling Pinkie Pie to not use her party powers to throw parties for her friends. Instead, Twilight should be teaching Starlight to use her magic to make friends the right way, help her friends with their problems, make their lives better, cheer them up and so on.
 
Magic may be used as an instafix switch but just like Twilight with Moondancer, she used magic with fines and skill.

Starlight Glimmers magical abilities are through the roof. She decided to stay with Twilight Sparkle, though, to learn social skills and keep friends so they don’t leave Starlight in a position where she feels she has done something wrong.
 
Anything can happen. Just like when she bottled up her emotions, she caused a small calamity by thinking that bottling up her tension would help her stay in control of her anger, but the truth is letting yourself become more frustrated and not getting to the core of the problem makes you weary and more short tempered. Starlight had in mind that Twilight would be disappointed at her and her best friend Trixie for coming back to find the map table vanished. Starlight can for sure repair anything with magic, but Twilight wants her to learn not to depend on magic. If you don’t get what you want the way you want it, use magic. Nope. That could create issues with others. She could create a cake on her own instantly, but she would make cakes by the dozen easily and put bakers out of business. She would understand that it takes hard work and dedication when you make a treat for someone, especially if they are close friends or a loved one. Or setting up silverware at a table; it shows you took time to ready up the table for the guest of honor to fancy themselves to a meal and that you appreciate them for joining you.
 
Starlight does have a little problem being social on a normal day without causing mind takeovers/corruptions. Twilight mostly tries to teach her humility and responsibility without magic. She learned that beautifully when she overcame her fear of being a leader and took control of her group to stop the Changelings. Magic can solve almost anything, but words and sincere actions can take care of the rest. But they are both learning in the process. That’s how teachers and student go. Everyone learns new lessons.

I agree, no matter what she does, she doesn’t seem to get all the credit she deserves, sometimes I feel that some ponies like Twilight are only in the show because of her name and doesn’t do anything meaningful or be a good role model to other ponies.

Starlight is wasting her potential in Ponyville. She’s such a talented magic user and could be one of the most talented unicorns when it comes to magic. But instead of developing what she’s good at, she decides to let a bunch of goody goods stifle her abilities, convincing her to stay and rot in that back water mud pony village.
 
Go home to Sunburst, Poochie. His magical knowledge will be beneficial to unlocking the full potential of your magical abilities. Be the new Mistmane or Meadowbrook or whatever and make a name for yourself like Rarity’s doing.
