That’s underground part, which is still intact. Current ‘top part’ is former throne room (it’s exploded with throne). I presume bottom part is still used for nursery and things.

While I do like the look of the new hive I also really liked the way the old hive shifted and changed randomly and wish we could have both aspects. We also weren’t given any explanation for why it stopped morphing (assuming it did that is). Maybe the plant life interferes with the morphing?

It was basically alive back then, so I agree.
You mean back when it was surrounded by a barren wasteland where nothing could grow?
 
I’m sorry, but it looks better now. The new hive is clearly the better option.
