We’ve seen Spike in winter not complaining about the cold. On the other hand, he does do things like take 8 hour-long bubble baths, so yeah, he probably hates the cold but tries to put a brave face on it.

Right, cold based indigestion is different from actually catching a cold from falling into a freezing lake.
 
But the thematic is the same; Cold. Seems to be his one weakness that actually causes non-pratfall related issues.

That’s mostly due because it’s ice-cream and dragons are quite durable, but ice is their one weakness (unless they are Sea Serpents or Ice Dragons) since it’s freaking cold.. kinda strange for a dragon to love ice-cream to the point of having ice-cream dreams now that I think about it. And he ate more than even Rarity on her ‘bad mood’ days; an impressive feat in on itself.
 
The only real time he got sick was during Winter Wrap Up because he fell asleep on a frozen lake and only thing he got was a minor cold.

He’s a dragon. He can pretty much eat anything and still be fine. Take the baked bads for example, he ate them like they were candy, and from the dang trash even!

I would like to see the context behind of this scene.

The balloon just nukes without reason. And true, Spike needs his gems so if it’s just gonna sit there he might as well eat it.
 
He hasn’t gotten sick eating anything yet…
