Not sure why a “white knight” is negative in this context, but speaking of which my headcanon is that Twilight actually likes ponies who are brave and protective of others… largely because that’s what her brother is like. Flash (sort of) and Timber had those traits, too, whatever else people might say about them.
 
As for what prompted Star’s outburst, he probably assumed, like I did, that Iron Will was doing what he’d been doing the entire trip, which was call attention to Twilight or wherever she happened to be.

Honestly the creepy stalkerness side of him didn’t really bother me as, well, we’ve seen worse in this show - it was when Iron Will was telling ponies there was ice cream on the deck and he stepped between him and Twilight and told him to leave her alone. Despite the fact he never mentioned her and had already told her she had finished her side of the bargain :S

To be fair, Fame and Misfortune wasn’t even thinly veiled. It was more akin to having a megaphone pointed in my face. And yeah, I dunno what’s up with the current staff, I guess they just aren’t as thick skinned as many of the people who have been with the show since the beginning or at least a lot longer. I watched Slice of Life yesterday and it’s kind of odd to think a couple years ago we all got a big “thank you” from the show and a mere two years later it feels more like we’re being told to eff off. Jayson Thiessen (director of season 4) is coming back to direct the next season though now that the movie is out. Hopefully, that’ll be the end of the show low-key or even pretty openly complaining about the older fans.

You know, the way he acted through the entire episode, it’s clear Star Tracker was not expecting to win the raffle, and had absolutely no idea what to do once he did win it. I mean, I can understand. If I won a prize that made me spend a day with my favorite actor or something (Not that I would even give myself a chance to win such a prize from luck, I know how my luck tends to do just what I don’t want to happen), I would basically be the same as him, with slightly less awkward and a lot more apologizing. I already have the tendency to accidentally stand right in blind spots of people I’m talking to in just a way that it makes them bump into me when they turn around, so…
 
He basically had no idea what to do, was internally panicking through the episode, and was just kinda going wherever Twilight went and standing by her. Heck, he even helped sometimes. He went and handed Twilight a box of quills at the book signing instead of using the opportunity to get the start of the line. While a little too close for comfort, he was telling Twilight what she was asking (I don’t know how he was teleporting to her dad and back every ten seconds, but…) at the bingo game. And of course, though it lasted five seconds, he was the first pony to stand up for Twilight against Iron Will.

The twilight tracker ships are coming. This isn’t displeasing to me I think a few might be good even if he is pretty pathetic. What I’d like to know though us why the whole season has seemed like a thinly veiled dis on the famdom? It’s like hasbro you’re a business, you like money, stop dissing the fans that buy 90% of the shit teir quality merchandise you put out.
