Description

Cutiemark Crusaders discussing how much they don’t like a series they follow. Inspired by all the countless threads of people trying to out-edgy each other about the show itself.

I realized that the reason many people glamor the first seasons and don’t even watch the later ones is that they’ve started to watch them as critics rather than fans. I’ve occasionally caught myself doing the same, concentrating more on judging how the new episodes compare with the old ones than actually enjoying them for themselves, and that never leads to fun. Just watch the episodes without pressure and you’ll have a much better time with them.

I have found every single time that, if an episode has rubbed me the wrong way, I just have to figure out what one thing started to bug me on the initial viewing, and then rewatch the episode. With the exception of season one’s “A bird in the hoof”, i’ve enjoyed every episode on the second viewing.

Well said. I appreciate mlp when it’s not forcing ships and making similar uncomfortable, suggestively romantic situations, and I enjoy it when the major characters shown in this comic get to show up every now and then. Those standards should be easy to meet, to let people see characters they like, balanced well enough, without the discomfort of blatant ship-bait.

Of course, it couldn’t possibly be that some of the elements that drew people to the show earlier on have disappeared or changed over time, resulting in a dissatisfaction among people who loved those things about the early seasons. That’s just crazy talk. /s

If you love everything about the way the show is now, more power to you, but don’t just write off the people who are disappointed with the direction things have gone as “hipsters”.

You’re allowed to love the later seasons more than or the same as the earlier ones. Other people are allowed to love the earlier seasons more than the later ones. Both are okay things to do. Looking down on other people for being on the other side of the fence? NOT okay.
