That’s a hard one, seeing as they’re two entirely different kinds of stupid.
 
Pinkie just has something wrong with her on some level, so I’m not sure how much of her insane behavior is naturally hers or is something that could have been fixed. I can speak from experience on this: High functioning Autism runs in my family, but I was diagnosed early in my life, and I got developmental help during my childhood. As a result, I’m more well adjusted then some of my older relatives who lived in a time before the diagnosis existed. If Pinkie hadn’t lived on a rock farm, maybe she could have turned out better. She’d probably be better at reading social cues and wouldn’t be such an obnoxious pest. Or not, we don’t know.
 
Rainbow Dash is a more everyday brand of stupid. I’m going to leave her treatment of others out of this, seeing as unlike Pinkie, she can recognize social cues, she just chooses to be a dick anyway. Rainbow apperantly has a civil service job, so she can function in the system, unlike Pinkie Pie, but there is an intense disconnect between her goals and actions. Wants to be a member of the Wonderbolt TEAM: slacks off constantly and acts like an self centered jackass. She only reads Daring Do, which I believe is intended for children, so she likely has the literacy of a elementary schooler. Rainbow could probably be rather intelligent, but her jerkass personality and desire to be “cool” prevent her from doing so.

I’d think it’s more she never had to experience being bullied. Hell, in Nightmare Night Twilight claims she’s ‘One of the most likable ponies around’

Applejack rounds off the stupid half of the Elememts of Harmony: She’s just as uneducated as Rainbow and Pinkie, but is a bit more rational then they are, making her the best of the worst, in regards to smarts.

AJ’s a terrible judge of intentions. Probably part of the reason the farm is barely above water despite all the money it’s raking in; she’s so easy to take advantage of it’s almost sad.

Diamond Tiara and Silver Spoon were giving Apple Bloom the “mean look”. “Looks like your friends want to talk to you.”
