I thought “SJWs” were people who used their political views as a bludgeon to attack others. One isn’t an “SJW” by their views, but by their behavior in relation to those views.
 
Either way, the art’s harmless and - in my opinion - looks nice. And I mean… if it was intentionally done in the name of promoting diversity or portraying maligned groups in a positive light, then eh, so what? There are worse agendas out there than accepting other people. It’s a weird thing to be bothered by.

It looks like a million other tumblr redesigns when you got to give everyone Rosacea and with at least one of them being down right ugly (RD). Extra points when one of them HAS to be black and bonus when it’s the literal white pony (because only black girls have style or something?). It’s also never curvy or chubby Pinkie but instead she has to be morbidly obese despite her show counterpart being energetic and fast.
 
Everything in the show indicates the mane six are moderately to very attractive (given by some of the guest/background ponies are designed as ugly and reacted to in show as so by other characters). Add on that RD is an athlete (a real one, not just the fat person who was on the baseball team because a school required sports enrollment) and yet has a belly hanging over her shorts.
 
To the artists credit TS, FS and AJ look good.

RD don’t look like a runner… and I don’t know how pinkie can bounce up and down without breaking her knee and get all sweety… f**k…

So how can you tell this picture is rapt with “ideological reasons” and not a “natural act”?
 
Could it just be the artist going “I want that one to be that one, and that one be the other one” out of stylistic choice? Or is there some ulterior motive and reasoning you’ve managed to spy?

I think people dislike it because it displays certain characteristics of so called ‘Tumblr style redesign’.  
Some artists really go overboard with features like blush on noses and joints, hipster/scene chic, shoehorning characters into various minority groups, drawing exaggerated body flaws, piercings, tattoos.  
I believe some of the downvoters do think that the artist intended for RD to look like a transgender person, because of those hairy looking dirt lines you mentioned.  
Some Tumblr artists also display toxic personalities. So yeah, people have both legitimate and unreasonable reasons for hating this kind of art.

When “diversity” is pushed for ideological reasons rather than occurring naturally, but especially when the said diversity is superficial. Think tokenism on steroids, but instead of occurring for cynical reasons — like when an out of touch executive decides to include a black character just because a focus study said there might be an untapped market — it occurs as part of an agenda.

It depends on the type of athlete. When I was in high school and college you’d see girls like RD (not heavy but looking a little soft and with strong legs) on the la crosse, soccer, volley, softball, and certain track sports and they’d all go hard in the paint. Most of the really slim and toned girls were either sprinters or swimmers.
 
I like this art. Most of the women I encounter these days (30-somethings like me anyway) either look like Twilight, RD, or Rarity.

It’s teetering on the edge of being good and being cringey. I’d imagine the down votes are coming from a knee-jerk reaction and people judging the piece from the thumbnail which is much less flattering than up close.
 
I would like to note I find it strange Rainbow Dash is chubby in this picture. She is an aspiring athlete, that bit of design seems inconsistent with her character.
