Think about it, then the show can explore an inter”species” relationship and how that can effect people around it. I would imagine that Ember’s dad wouldn’t be to keen on it.
you need fix your shipping googles
Sure, but then again Spike, Ember and Smolder are all standing side by side in this very picture. They must be in a polyamorous relationship – it’s the only explanation!
(I kid, of course.)
They’re even flying together in the new intro. You can’t deny it.

that’s one of the reasons people didn’t like it.
but to be fair the idea of dragontown makes a little more sense now then it did back then
I’d certainly hope so. It was a terrible story that messed up the show’s canon.
I mean, countless dragons all living in a pony city?
Yet Twilight and ponies in general know “next to nothing about them”? And Twilight can’t find a single book in her library that says anything about them? And not even Fluttershy knew they could speak before she met Spike?
C’mon.
Aye. I’d feel rather robbed if there isn’t at least one honest smooch between the two that isn’t platonic.
That’s pretty much true, Rarity is the only character that Spike have interest in, and that’s probably gonna be that way at the end of the series.

@TheAmazingPeanuts
I’m indeed referring to the fact that Spike, despite having access to interactions with other dragons, doesn’t care about them beyond friendship and pines for Rarity as his love interest.
I think what @Daneasaur mean is, just because see we Spike interact with female dragons doesn’t mean one of them will become his love interest. I remember people saying Ember will be his love interest but nothing happens between them since, they just friends and nothing else.

That would be an unfortunate lapse in his character. And one I don’t belive is true.
“AH! GAY!”
I wasnt referencing the past but the future
Nah, he still doesn’t give a flip about other dragons.
I thought the fan reaction to that comic was pretty universally negative?
Can they at least tie it in? Some of the comics suck but some have really good stories or at least something that could be promising if the show decided to elaborate on a bit more.
They’ve really strayed away from anything dragon related since Dragon Quest. It’s only since GoF that they’ve gone back to address dragons in the show itself again.
@Ardashir
Too cringey. Plus, that’d mean they’d have to address the Sparity thing head on.
Alternatively, Smolder could fall for Spike, and only after that learn about his crush on Rarity. Hilarity (and possibly a lot of burned clothing) ensues.
Too bad because the dragons in that comic were interesting, especially the character Mina.
