Yep, when I play soldier, it’s mostly trolldier, which is an absolute blast to play… even if I’m not as effective as, say, a soldier using any other rocket launcher. Here he is in non-Derpy form. which I feel is an inferior form. Left off the Professor’s Pineapples, mainly because they looked really silly sticking off of her chest. Maybe because I also forgot about them until I was already coloring.
My meme spoon is still my most favorite item in my entire inventory.
Shining Armor is too… sane for Soldier. I’m not saying we take Screw Loose and make her Soldier (although that would be pretty funny), but there’s got to be some degree of… loony-ness?
I don’t think there’s going to be any ponies that’ll grapple a bear (or robots) while covered in honey like the Soldier (and unlike Soldier, they’re already naked). However, there are a few characters who would have such an obsession with baked goods that they would spend three days doing nothing but teleporting them just for the hell of it (see Expiration Date if you haven’t already, it made everyone want a TF2 TV show). Even if that obsession is mostly a collective headcanon based on a single scene featuring baked bads and a derp eyed gray pegasus uttering the word “muffin.”
Yes, that’s my problem too… I can’t think of any fitting pony.
But I think you’d admit that those arguments are quite loose ones.
So my best choice would be… like… a random royal guard - such as Flash Sentry :D - considering how soldiers are quite generic and the game trailers using them as targets in a way that reminds me of redshirts from the original Star Trek.
Hmm… thinking about it, maybe Shining Armor would fit…
Well, the two most popular choices for Soldier (from what I can tell) are Derpy and Spike. Of course, we don’t really have a hyper-patriotic pony running rampant in, say, Griffonstone or the (recently reformed) Changeling hive. So, aside from that, the other big character trait that the Soldier has is that he’s insane. Granted, both this and the patriotism/racism makes finding a great match for Soldier more than difficult…
Derpy’s kind of the “best match” in this case, she’s ditsy, can be a little clueless at times, but she means well. While Soldier is very much prejudicial, he also stays loyal to his friends/teammates, despite their various nationalities.
Besides, Derpy dressed up in paper bags one year for Nightmare Night, and a
poorly donefabulous rendition of Twilight made of cardboard the next. And Soldier, well… this was his master disguise to fool Gray Mann’s robot army.Clearly this coincidence solidifies Derpy as the Soldier.
