@JadedGamer
I know there aren’t demons. I was saying what made Quake different from Doom was that they had Eldritch Abominations instead of Demons before they changed it to fighting alien cyborgs.
@Robomorons
Oh, these spamming sons of bitches are very annoying, along with the Zombie from that same game, and the Berserker, Gunner, and Parasite from Quake II. I had to take pot shots to kill the first son of a bitch I came across in the Holy Slipgate War. Thank Celestia he was behind bars, as he would have slashed me to smithereens if it weren’t for the bars. After my first encounter with an ogre, I was pretty much familiar with battling them.
I like to compare Quake’s Ogre to Quake II’s Gunner. Both of them are annoying sons of bitches who keep spamming grenades. I have a headcanon where the Ogre, Zombie, Berserker, Gunner, and Parasite were originally one type of very powerful and irritating monster.
WARNING: INCOMING HEADCANON
Story: One day, Shub “Quake” Niggurath had a plan to get rid of the slipgate warriors before they enter their dimension. She wanted to deal damage to the slipgate warriors and distract them. She decided to use her dark magic to make monsters with a drill on one hand, a grenade launcher on the other, an insanely long tongue that sucks the blood of the slipgate warriors, and can come back to life. The slipgaters called her plan “Project Shitmongerer.” However, it failed miserably. The shitmongers killed everything in sight, including grunts, enforcers, knights, demons, vores, shamblers, rottweilers, and rotfish. Shub Niggurath decided to cancel her plan and gib all the shitmongerers, since simply killing them is not enough. She decided to KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid.) and create two simpler monster classes. The first simpler monster class is the Ogre: a genetically modified human/gorilla hybrid armed with a chainsaw on one hand and a grenade launcher on the other. The second simpler monster class was the Zombie: dead soldiers and civillians, resurrected to eat people’s brains and not die unless gibbed. They were more disciplined and did not kill their allies; they only fought Ranger, and were killed by him.
20 years later, after Ranger defeats Shub Niggurath: The Makron analyzes the remains of Shub Niggurath, and finds her weird brain. He finds out about the story of the shitmongerers. He decided to make three classes of Strogg: the berserker: a Strogg designed specifically for throwing humans out of battle; the Gunner, a Strogg designed specifically for spamming grenades; and the Parasite, a dog-shaped Strogg designed specifically for sucking the life out of humans.
@soundtea
what you are talking about is E1M5,
but actually when playing on nightmare you come across 2 shamblers already in E1M3 after shooting the button where the ceiling lowers
when playing on nightmare
Now it got fixed. It said it was unvailable back then.
Um, no it isn’t. I can still see and access the link on my end. It still leads to the video.
Edited
ANNNND the link is gone.
Now imagine if we can get them to fight the Quake 2 monsters

Uh, there have never been any Quake games with demons from Hell, that’s Doom.
Quake transitioned over to fighting alien cyborgs called the Strog.
Such a shame that Quake went to a different direction.
Oh well. Here’s to hope that future Quake games will have something similar to the first Quake.

oops, forgot link to the mapset:
https://www.quaddicted.com/reviews/something_wicked.html
the drake mod actually has a ‘quake archvile’
its called the sha’vile, its a black scaly shambler that acts pretty much like an archvile
he’s used in the last map of the ‘something wicked this way comes’ map-set
what you are talking about is E1M5,
but actually when playing on nightmare you come across 2 shamblers already in E1M3 after shooting the button where the ceiling lowers

When you get used to them Archviles arent that bad if you have cover.
Now a Quake one would likely be like the Diabloist edit from Doom. (Fire hurts you even as it preps up its fblast attack.
Imagine a quake arch-vile?
… I just noticed the Quake logo on his vest.
And let’s agree that Quake I’s cast of monsters were crazy strong.
Goddamned spamming bastard.
Not nearly as bad as this freak:
Like a Revenant on crack.
Too damn fast.
