So this type of changeling was originally going to be a honeypot type and in every hive, but I decided to give them their own hive with a bit more voracious role. These changelings will look around for ponies that wouldn’t be missed (homeless, travelers, hermits) to gulp down for an extended stay. The idea is that by surrounding the pony, they can capture all the love they give off- not to mention have a source of food on the go. The bugs in this hive mostly sell love to other hives, since each changeling can easily get more than enough love for themselves.

Their bellies are filled will a sustaining goo that let’s the pony breath and feeds them, so the ponies are able to last a very long time once inside. The changeling is also able to change the goo to manipulate the pony’s emotions if needed.

How long the changeling keeps them inside depends on the bug- some like to suck a pony dry of love and spit them out to go eventually recover, and some like more long term relationships. Though these last ones have to be careful- a pony sitting in nutrient rich goo for a long time with nothing to do tends to get a bit harder to spit back out.

The bug above lives in the crystal empire, but spends most of her time trading love to other hives all over. She’s more a fan of long term ponies, often keeping ponies for at least a couple months. She likes the challenge of developing a relationship with them, without altering their emotions, and enjoying the company of a “true friend” while she waddles around equestria. Her current pony is her favorite, actually trusting her enough to release her for a couple days at a time.
