Not really, considering Spike isn’t that big of a main character. I liked the character development for Spike, but the episode itself felt slightly mediocre, probably could’ve done more in terms of exploring dragon lore.
I.E. Every Spike episode.
Spike has some things no other dragon in the series has been shown to have. A caring disposition, a loving heart, and a gentle nobility. These things far outweigh any other consideration.
That episode is much like Pickle Rick, we don’t talk about that episode.
But yeah, it’s something of a disappointment in comparison of what we could have had.
Spike summoned his dragon code card out of nowhere in Spike at your Service.
And I agree with you about the wings. Winged Spike is cool and all, but him being deformed or an earth dragon would have been dope. Now he’s a manlet dragon with wings.
everything that this show dose will cause drama
Didn’t the CMC cutie marks cause drama too?
Twilight has been sending and receiving messages from Ember, so we don’t know that it’s exclusive to Spike.
And the “enchanted” aspect is simply looking at anything Spike has burned that isn’t a scroll. He’s accidentally burned numerous items. When it’s scrolls, Celestia gets random messages. When it’s anything else, he torches it.
Yes, sending and receiving scrolls with HIS fire breath, which is something Ember and Smolder can’t do.
Also, that doesn’t answer my question. When did any episode say the scrolls were enchanted.
They are the only thing ever sent or received via his fire breath.
Look for anything not a scroll that has been sent by his fire breath.
Can you show me the episode where they said the scrolls and letters are enchanted, because I don’t think the show has ever said that.
Look at any feat Spike has done, right down to his incorrectly colored fire spout during equestria games. Now remember that he is a Runt, meaning he’s a sub-par dragon among dragons. Ember can do anything Spike can do in that manner, but she stays in the dragon lands. So, Spike getting wings would lead one to feel he’s closing the gap and kinda being our own down home dragon warrior… Except Smolder lives in ponyville now and is attuned to actually being a dragon, so they can also do anything Spike can do, but better, leaving Spike’s growth of wings to be incredibly useless and further detracts anything unique about him.
Also, the scrolls are enchanted (possibly specifically the seal on them), not his breath, otherwise the Rok and the glacier and anything else burned by his fire would have landed on celestia, but it doesn’t and just burns to predicable ashes.
I honestly don’t even know where to begin to respond to this rant for just giving Spike wings which every grown up dragon has.
@Daneasaur
Yes, we would like to see mature, why do you think this was thrown together at the last minute?
@Daneasaur
Yes, Spike is a dragon, while he was hatched with unicorn magic, he is still 100% dragon. Also, Spike can send and receive latters, something we haven’t seen anyother dragon do so no, canonically Ember and Smolder cannot do anything Spike can do.
Spike got wings
We were given a dragon egg with no origin or background and hatched with unicorn magic. A dragon, I might add, who was shown to be very different.
He was compassionate, kind, and interestingly, lacked wings. He also had green fire as opposed to the orange fire that the other dragons had. (Dragons Quest had another dragon have green fire for the belching contest and then it was revealed that dragons, like unicorns, can have color coded fire.)
He had potential and all the other dragons pointed out he lacked wings. None of them said “he doesn’t have any wings yet “. That word, “yet”, is the problem.
Had it been said EVEN ONCE, then I’d be inclined to agree with the “growing them is part of maturity”. But it wasn’t. Which means it WAS a last minute throw together by the writers in answer to the fans wanting to see Spike mature.
So, Spike is a dragon. No, not anything special, just a dragon. A Runt dragon, specifically, as stated by Ember.
Ember and Smolder canonically can do anything Spike can do, but better, leaving Spike the yet eternal buttmonkey.
I see Spike getting wings as them filling in both why he didn’t have them yet and explaining lore behind dragon maturity. It makes sense and didn’t feel like the writers were just lazily bullshitting a plot development. I mean, that’s great if you see it differently, but that’s what makes the show so wonderful to watch. We all see things a bit differently.
Spike has always been a baby dragon, every other dragon we’ve seen in the show has been a teen or adult.
Just because he has a different upbringing doesn’t make him different to other dragons.
nah that wasn’t leaked and it was a legit surprise to the show. this will die down in like a day or so
What show have you been watching?
I didn’t see it that way at all.
“lol give him wings and make him just another dragon.”
“Holy smokes, I’ll gives you the keys to my home so you can sleep with my wife!”
