Even though it’s not much on the forefront: Shinji and Asuka of NGE comes to mind. It a stable in anime/hentai where the strong willed female wants the male “wimpy” guy to “man up” and take charge. There should be examples of such on tvtropes.

Anon is an individual of limitless faces, that’s why he always wears an “?”. Rarity only saw the face that her mind and heart projected on him.

I haven’t seen many sensitive guy x tomboy stuff, so I’m not very certain how that dynamic goes. I’ve seen the inverse so many times, it’s not even funny. I imagine it’s the same, but I don’t have a clear idea on a good example.

There could be a character flaw in one or the other or both, one has to recognize the strengths and weaknesses of the other and know when to lead and when to follow, if both have egos that refuse this measure, we have a Battle of the Sexes and have stubbornness ruling out what could have been accomplished if Macho Guy and Tomboy stopped competing with with each.

Because I was trying to figure out how a relationship can work in an “equal and distinct” fashion. Since the manly guy and the tomboy will usually have more of a leader vibe, how much would it diminish the role of the other if he or she is more reserved. Birds of a feather stuff can only be exciting for so long.

Strange thing, it works for a while because the two have conflicting issues before coming to a resolution: aka Ranma x Akane but somewhere down the line the Tomboy becomes the sensitive more feminine type and/or Macho becomes more affectionate or it gets boring after awhile (just kiss her already). If Macho guy and Tomboy don’t have any differences in the way, they become boring like the Sensitive Guy and Girly Girl, if you get my drift. Key thing, you can have liked minded couples but there needs to be some conflicts in character to make things interesting for the viewer.
 
No one likes a smooch fest, where the couple always gets along, (real life or fiction). Why do we always yell out “Get a room you two!!” When we see public displays of affection?

So, would tomboy x manly dude be too obnoxious?
 
Also, yeah, Fluttermac is dry. It’s not neat, exciting, or something that toys with norms. Some people like that, but I’m not a fan.

For sake of story “sensitive guy” to Tomboy, better on screen chemistry, too feminine female with sensitive guy is just bland, not enough Alpha couple to be highlight.
 
Guess that’s why FlutterMac turns some folks off, too bland not enough chemistry to be interesting, cute, but uninteresting.

I’m not sure who would be better for whom.
 
That’s like saying whether a “sensitive guy” would rather go after a tomboy or a more traditionally feminine woman.
