So, Rarity, Applejack and Twilight are all pretty much cybernetic organisms since technically the only parts of them that are organic are their brains and hearts?

It could perhaps be called the “dock module” instead, because the tail fits into it. Just throwing an idea out there. “Butt module” could be used as a nickname, though.

The whole thing is fascinating, but I find myself laughing at how silly “butt module” sounds. I’d be interested in reading more about this ’verse though.

I’ve tried a few times in the past but I need to be a bit better at drawing robots to do her any justice. I’m thinking she looks slightly more outdated than her subjects to help bring across the fact that she’s so much older than them. More moving parts and things like that.

This is all set in an alternate timeline where Celestia abandoned her position as ruler, seeing herself as unfit after she had to banish Luna to the moon. In her place a replacement was installed by the Alicorn Council; a robotic Alicorn called Seezix Zevenne. While Celestia has stayed in a state of mourning these thousand years, Zevenne has continually advanced Equestria societally and technologically, eventually leading to what you see in these pictures.
 
The switch from flesh to steel was simply a part of this process. With the whole landscape optimized it was only a natural progression for the populace to do the same. There had already been plenty of prototypes trying to emulate Equestria’s Designated Temporary Princess, but Zevenne started to design her own various models of them. This floaty style one is the most recent advancement, removing the need for limbs.
 
As for how they reproduce, I’m tempted to say they use USB ports or something but that wouldn’t make sense. Instead, there’s an optional module that serves as a surrogate womb for females. Males that undergo the transition can’t reproduce normally (they can still contribute their magical signature because headcanons) but females still retain their eggs in the butt module, so that the species doesn’t die out.

So, how exactly did everypony decide to switch from flesh and blood to modular robotic orbs? Was it a compulsion, or was it mandatory? Is it necessary to survive some aspect of the world that has changed? How exactly do ponies reproduce after they have surrendered their flesh and blood to robotics?
