That’s because she and the others decided to stay, it was their decision, not Starlight’s.
I like to think most of the time she was a good leader. Even out of ear shot of Starlight while alone with the Mane 6, it still seemed like they didn’t want to betray Starlight, going as far as to say the cutie mark removal was a beautiful experience. They were only really mad at Starlight for lying to them.
Maybe when Starlight first started the village with them, things were more on the up and up.

Didn’t brag or show 9ff her superior powers, A real dictator would be living better then everyone else, which she wasn’t. Despite still having her talent, she still lowered herself to where everypony else was,
