You’re not getting it. Just because you personally think the plot is weak, doesn’t mean that the creators did, and assuming that the creators share your opinion is narcissistic. I don’t care how obvious it seems to you, you have no evidence of what they think. Also, all the young teenage girls I knew preferred straight ships, and that wasn’t even 5 years ago.

Your entire argument is “I think this special is boring without the shipping fuel, therefore everyone else would find it boring if it didn’t have shipping fuel, therefore the people behind the special decided to add shipping fuel because they cared more about what the fandom would think about it then what the target audience would think about it, and all of them care more about pleasing the fans then only doing their job and getting their paycheck.” Can you not see how nonsensical and narcissistic that is?

I don’t agree with Lily Peet on… well, pretty much ANYTHING. For obvious reasons. But one area we do agree on is that constantly reassuring people that “it’s just an opinion/speculation” is stupid.
 
Of course it’s just an opinion, and of course it’s just speculation on my part.
 
As for “why didn’t they just rewrite it, instead of throwing in shipping fuel”? My assumption was that it was too late into production to restart it. Adding in extra blushes and PDA was simpler by that point. I obviously don’t know this for a fact.
 
If I’m wrong, and Rarity and AJ continue to act as they did in ROF, then as I said, I’ll eat crow. I wasn’t being sarcastic there, I’m completely open to the idea that I’m wrong.

Your opinion is not fact. It is very egotistical of you to assume that everyone shares your opinion of the special just because it is so obvious to you personally, and it is very narcissistic of you to assume that, just because you found the special boring, that automatically means that the people behind it thought it would otherwise be boring if they didn’t insert shipping fuel. Do you have any idea how little sense that makes? If they thought the special was bring, why wouldn’t they make the story more interesting instead of inserting shipping fuel?

Nick is covering his ass; the ROF was very shippy, but artificially so. AJ and Rarara will never treat each other the same way they did in ROF or the way Lyra and Bon Bon treat each other ever again. They wrote a boring ass episode, so they tweaked it a bit to shove in all this shipping fuel so as to ensure the episode wasn’t forgettable.

Rarijack however? Outside of Rollercoaster, it really doesn’t. For the most part, they really do just act like close female friends, who are a lot more physically intimate on average than close male friends. They only pushed past that point in Rollercoaster because otherwise nobody would be talking about the forgettable schlock.
