The founding of Equestria involved consolidation of pony territories into a kingdom (technically principality) as opposed to an empire or (con)federation, with an alicorn central authority, essentially turning city-states into just cities, What’s the point in sovereign titles without sovereignty?

Except Equestria IS the country. And they Said that city is in southern Equestria.
Not to start a flame war, but I’ll admit it’s possible not illegal immigration, but we should at least keep in mind the possibility that if Equestria works like real world or more specifically u.s.a. it may be part of the Equestrian continent, but it could still be illegal immigration just like how it is for Mexico and Canada which is part of the North American continent
