oh sure, they’ll take good care of her, making sure she doesn’t do anything dangerous or stressful that could harm the baby, like working for eqsa for instance. he has her best interests in mind when he tells her she has to move in with him, because he truly wants to make sure her pregnancy is cared for. and hey, the position is available anyway, so gosh he could financially support her pregnancy with his new job at eqsa, thus ensuring she never has to work at all.
 
so that’s how a matriarchal society could do it. you don’t have to stone someone to kill them with kindness.
 
I won’t deny part of it was her fault. doesn’t matter if you’re self-destructive beforehand, if you destroy your life out of bitterness and resentment after something bad happens. but his job offer wasn’t exactly an olive branch. you think she wants back into the industry that screwed her over 16 years ago? what she wants is to feel better about herself, and maybe she needs her independence to do that.

I dunno about all that, shino’s Equestria is a bit different but I can’t imagine a matriarchal society not taking good care of a pregnant woman. Until proven otherwise, it’s more likely that being pregnant and having to care for a newborn cost her several incredibly important opportunities while Jet just snatched them up and continued as normal. He probably did not act out of malice, but he did act ignorantly if her best interests while she was caring for his daughter and Delta is pretty justified in resenting him for knocking her up when it was HIS idea to go bareback, and costing her opportunities that would have made her very successful and happy.
 
We don’t know much of what happened to completely crush her self esteem and will to succeed from then to now. At this point his attempted olive branches have all been vehemently refused by her despite being an easy in back into her career and she wants nothing to do with Apogee, so their relationship had to have fallen apart and explosively. She wasn’t ready to be a mom, he DEFINITELY wasn’t ready to be a husband. She’s self destructive and probably always has been, so she’s guilty of her current situation too, but I don’t blame her for wanting nothing to do with a family that has in her eyes killed her future and never apologized for it.

possibly her career, but I’d say it’s her self-esteem. people can be so cruel to a pregnant woman, taking away her opportunities, and choosing her life for her, if all they care about is the well being of her child. in the face of stonewalling and sabatoge where nothing you do seems to succeed anymore, even if you can blame them, you start feeling like you’re a failure, because you couldn’t stop them. and maybe they’re right! maybe you were never going to succeed, and all your success so far has been a wonderful lie.
 
not to mention your own body betraying you with invalidating changes that help the baby, but hinder the mother. being forced to love your child, even simple physical stuff like stretch marks, or lactation, you’re doing things for the baby that don’t help you at all, and you can’t stop doing them.
 
I think pregnancy’s kind of like a roller coaster. if you get on it intentionally, ready for all that stuff to happen, it’s awesome. if someone ties you down in it and starts the train though… less awesome.

And as far as we can tell, they’re the only positive influence in her life. Though I do believe that Trash will appear eventually, but even than, she’s more of Apogee’s friend than Delta.

What she needs is to admit that, as broken as she is, she would have nothing without them. As much as she resents that, she’s clearly miserable whether they’re present or not. She’s never going to be the pony she could have been, and she NEEDS to let that go.

She obviously needs help, but she’s not going to get it from her family. Every time she sees them she’s reminded of how much she resents them and what a failure she is, and that just makes her spiral further out of control.
