You know Rarity might go after people of influence, but I wouldn’t call her a gold digger either. She, just like a lot of us (not just girls but boys too), that go after popular guys. I mean couldn’t Spike be considered a gold digger too because he’s going after a somewhat unattainable person for slightly shallow reasons (not that this is a bad thing, just an unlikely prospect.)?
 
But I think that it’s a bit of character development that the go after Trenderhooves because they probably share the same interests compared to Blueblood who she doesn’t even know what he’s like. Or Capper who had a legitimately cool personality. To me though, if you have a friendship with her and can woo her, she’ll probably go out.
 
I actually find it funny how Rarity and Spike are similar. They both go after something a little out of their league, for Rarity, Blueblood.
 
I’m a Sparity shipper but I don’t Rarity for going after other guys just as I don’t hate Spike for going after Rarity instead of Sweetie Belle. To me they are young at heart, they’ll experiment but in the end I think they will find someone, popular or not that is truly for them.

There’s also the fact that both times her interest in them blew up in her face. So, she’s probably learned to look for other qualities in a partner. At any rate, that’s pony Rarity. Human Rarity could be a little different. Yeah, she’d probably not be the easiest girl to land a date with, but considering she does have a good heart to go with those good looks, she’d be worth it.

I wouldn’t say she’s a gold digger. More that she values social status. I don’t think Rarity is about money; she makes plenty. But social status makes her more money.

It’s not, unless you have a bank account that would make Warren Buffet go “that’s a bit much” and you were jacked more than Brock Lesnar.

This is assuming getting a date with Rarity is possible.
