“Ten Cent Beer Night” is something that sounds like a historically bad idea even before you read its history.

This is the same city that, back in the 70’s, decided to correct the problem of low attendance at Cleveland Indian baseball games by doing ‘Ten Cent Beer Night’. This for a home game against a team (Texas Rangers) that had not only beaten the Indians recently, but whose fans beat up some Indians fans in a brawl at the same game. Surprisingly, despite streakers running across the diamond, broken bottles raining down on the Rangers players, and the two teenage girls handling the beer abandoning their posts (turning Ten Cent Beer Night into Free Beer Night), the game actually ran 8 innings before the riot began.
