Basically, how you paraphrased it. However the cited Ms. Magazine article doesn’t bear out the “She’s straight. Word of Faust.” of # . The points Faust makes in the article are 1) Dashie’s sexual orientation is not referenced in the show, and 2) it’s awfully rude to make assumptions based on appearance. Which I agree with: tomboyishness ≠ lesbianism, and fuck stereotypes generally.
 
I’m not sure how you would get from “neither confirmed nor denied, and we’re not going there in the show, just like all the other little ponies” to “she’s straight”.

Yeah, Faust decried people assuming she was “supposed” to be gay because the of rainbows and tomboy stereotype but that was telling people to stop assuming things because of stereotypes, not a statement about the actual sexuality of the character, which in all likelihood is canonically “Eh?” because it hasn’t come up yet, if ever.

It’s in the article.She never says she is homosexual or heterosexual. she just says don;t assume she’s gay just because she has a rainbow mane and is a tomboy

Rainbow Dash isn’t a lesbian in MY headcanon. She is obviously an unworldly horror seeking to devour the souls of her ‘friends’, and she possesses no sexual organs, has no emotions, and only desires to feed.

People care a little too much about the characters of this show.
