If this had happened when I first made my Derpibooru account, I probably would’ve gotten banned for checking everyone who downvoted my old (and I admit now it’s bad but back then I wouldn’t have cuz at that time it was good) art.

well considering the majority of shitposts are going to be really simple image macro edits, which you can’t really say to have quality of any kind (or a proper artist behind them to get upset about downvotes), we typically overlook those.

But that’s redundant. If they’re also complaining, it’s easy to tell if what they’re complaining about is legitimate (e.g., “Look, I don’t really like the scat play in this, but I’m not downvoting over that. It’s the completely asymmetrical anatomy where her anus is coming out of her right plot cheek and both her eyes are on her snout that’s wrong here.”) or just being a dick (e.g., “Fuck this scat shit, and I hope you die.”).
 
The problem is when people downvote but don’t comment. You can pretty much assume their comment would be the latter and they don’t want to leave evidence that could be used to ban them, or they’re just downvoting for the lulz of making the artist feel bad and have no other reason they could leave to explain to the artist why.

some users, in lieu of using the filters like they are intended to so they don’t have to see things they don’t like, instead just downvote literally every single image of a particular type. which, since downvotes should be based on quality, not content, is very much looked down upon and a great way to get banned.

Eh, I prefer to just hide or spoiler in this case. Honestly, I’ve only found two images on this site so far that I actually wanted to downvote (well, three if you include the Justin Beiber one, but I don’t think it counts).

Some people downvote whatever is on the front page, no matter what quality or content.  
Some dude once made multiple accounts just to downvote my partner and I’s artwork. :/

I want it just to have a point or two about rules proven.

It’s against the rules to mass downvote based on content (for example, downvoting every pic with a particular character or ship), so being able to see who’s downvoted which images is obviously going to be important to enforce that.

I imagine knowing if someone is downvoting a lot of content and complaining in the comments about it would be handy to justify banning them for being a prick, assuming mods ever need to justify themselves to other mods. I suspect they are put in their positions because they show good judgement and hopefully mental stability, so maybe they are just trusted not to drop the hammer without it being necessary. In which case I have no idea why being able to see who is downvoting stuff would ever be useful.
