This is what I’m referring to.
And as for Dash, at least to me, it’s the half-shaved head and piercings above her eyes that are the problem.
I don’t know what kotobukiya means, I’m sorry.
Honestly, I don’t think it really matters what race people draw them as, whether it depends on their race in the show, but if someone wants to draw them based on what kind of pony they are in the show, that’s fine too. ^^
And my intention wasn’t to make Rainbow Dash unappealing. Lol.
Edited because: clarification
@Background Pony #0197
The tag “kotobukiya” disagrees with that theory. To put it simply, it’s more so that the Dash in this image isn’t very appealing. Also, shouldn’t it be that the diversity depends on their race, like unicorns are black, pegasi are white and earth are asian, or something like that?
I figured that had something to do with it. I just like to draw diverse characters because it’s more enjoyable for me than making them all the same. I’ve never been a fan of Tumblr, though.
You can thank an old toxic section of tumblr for the reaction. Humanized pictures of characters were particular attention was paid to make the cast “diverse” raises a lot of bad memories of some very cringe-inducing artwork from the early days of the fandom.
Don’t take it too personally, it’s just a knee-jerk reaction.
I’d say that Dash is one of the reasons for that.
I’ll take that as a compliment.
