Turns out that ‘Ticket Master’ is a recycled plot from ‘My Little Pony Tales.’ I’m not outright accusing them of stealing it, but it’s remarkable just how similar the two episodes are that you have to wonder if one was based on the other.

I feel like ‘Tales’ still told a better story despite having a smaller budget and half the run time. Of course, this description has been exaggerated for comedy.

But yeah, there’s plot recycling aplenty from G1, particularly from the more slice-of-life stories. I quite liked Balloon-themed party planner forgets own birthday and is temporarily upset by friends seemingly ignoring her while they plan a surprise party, for example, and I really enjoyed Prankster over-does it, but is caught out by a jointly planned B-movie styled revenge prank.

You can say it was “exaggerated for comedy,” but it ends up reading more like it was cherry-picked and skewed to fit your biases and support your conclusion. For instance: the comment about Twilight considering each friends reason. “Showing off” and “finding a boyfriend” could easily be switched to “getting dream job” and “finding true love.” Just as easily, “a medical procedure” could be simplified to “making money.” I’m willing to bet that it goes the other way with the older episode, but having never seen it, I can’t say.

I’m not saying you’re right or wrong. It’s a matter of opinion and you’re entitled to it. Maybe it is because they had less time, so they had to focus the story more.

That said, it does read more like the choice was made, and then comparisons were made that supported the decision.
