Considering there’s no delay between the command to moving the sun/moon and when they visibly move, either the speed of light in Equestria’s universe is somewhere close to infinity orrrr the sun and moon are both very small and very close to the planet.

The sun and moon are fighting again. Better call Kirby.

A couple interesting things in this scene. First, stars are visible through the Cresent of the moon. So it must actually change shape with the phases, and the phases are not affiliated by the sun. Cool! And even though the sun is up, the sky is dark and stars are visible. My theory is that the sun and moon are crystallized magic.
