seems sensible to me. first you target the guard initially, so that any reports of changelings go to you. then once the guard have been compromised, you use them to start teaching false lessons about changelings, who have weaknesses that are easier to detect than a real changeling. you get early warning of any ponies coming close to detecting you, and nopony believes you’re changelings because you are both intelligent and cooperative. it’s the perfect plan!
well, until somepony actually figures it out and you’ve just built up an elaborate campaign of changelings as irredeemable monsters. but that’s future chrysalis’s problem!
