Yes I know it’s a fucking motion drawing, but there are no motion lines, that’s the joke.
Honestly, if he cares about the story he is writing, and responds to criticism by making positive changes, I only see good coming from that. Maybe he didn’t intend for Jet to come off as an irredeemable asshat. Maybe he didn’t intend for Delta to come across as being a victim instead of, you know, a horny girl who is responsible for her own actions and the results thereof. Maybe he does indeed want them to be able to reconcile one day.

I think Delta was already married to her dream, and didn’t even consider what might happen if she couldn’t fulfill it. Jet had a vision that included Delta. Delta’s dream didn’t allow for anyone at all.

I thought that the whole “betrayal” came from the whole “I will impregnate you without your consent, just to have you”.

Espescially when in real life ex-spouses after divorce tend to be mistrustful with each other.
Like “You destroyed my marriage, so there’s no way I will leave MY CHILDREN with you!”.
According to AWGear she used to be “good enough” mother for these few years when she was a house wife.
Then “Jet” happened and… she suddenly isn’t?
It’s like she got brain damage or something.
It is kind of stupid when I think about it.
Only underacheiveing people say this. I do not think there’s even a single person, who after getting a diploma said “Golly, I do hope to run a junkyard one day!”
(unless it is a family business, then it is a different story)
At this point I kind of hope that Shino will abandon this setting and will do new comic (or even finish Lyra comic!)
or at the very least he will forget about “fixing” his setting and will give us something new about Apogee.
Man, just when I am telling myself to stop writing essays in comment sections, I return to this activity. I think I will go. We don’t need another asinine tag about “quarrel in the comments”
Well, in the re-write of the comic, it might not be cannon. I’m not really sure where that scene would even fit in the story. In “concessions” Delta doesn’t really seem that “bothered” Apogee, Nethier in the “current time”. We could use a bit more context to that scene. It could take place after Apogee met Diamond Gavel (that anime hairstyle comic) but we aren’t exactly sure on where it is on the timeline.

I think you missed the point of what I was saying.
Just because Delta “likes” the life she lives, doesn’t mean that this is what would she want for her daugther. It’s quite common that parents generally want for thier kids to have even better life than them, even if they are “happy” with where they are. What I am saying, is that Delta “enjoys” her life, but wouldn’t want for her daugther to go the same route. Delta is there only because she missed her “dream life” opportunity and making Apogee live the same life would be just what Jet did to her. Little Ponyo has her own life goals, and Delta doesn’t want to stop her (even if she belives that there is no chance of completeing some of them, namely her and Jet getting back together).
You had it shown plenty times that Delta knows that Jet lives an expensive and luxury life. Delta hates him for that, but knows that it’s much better for apogee to live with him instead of with her. She wants best for her daughter, so just because she hates Jet and will never agree to take on his offers, she will not mess with Apogee’s life. Besides, do you really think that she would want to take her away from her father?
Delta can be insensitive, but with the level of love that the filly treats Jet with, She would have to be an absolute monster to try and separate them.
Why do you think she has to trust him? Do you actually belive that everyone who is a dick to you, is also a dick to everyone else? Just because she hates him, doesn’t mean that she would want Apogee to feel the same way.
delta thinks jet betrayed her for the sake of apogee, so why would she think he’d betray apogee? you can trust someone in some things without trusting them in others.
and honestly yeah I don’t think she would be thinking of apogee much. because she’s not a good mother. not everyone’s a good mother. she’s a good rocket scientist, but…
also it’s possible to admire someone’s lifestyle, when they themselves are ashamed of it. I’d be lucky to run a junkyard, but delta sees it as less than she could have achieved.
I agree the retcons are hitting this comic hard. seems a little watered down, less tortured. which might be a good thing, if shino’s disgusted at commenters constantly arguing the unforgivable evil of one character or another. maybe he just wants a comic about a sloppy mom doing stupid bonding things with her teenage daughter, without getting into anything serious like hatred, or despair.

Damn, maybe retcons ARE necessary, as Delta characterisation is wildly inconsistent.
Uh, no? She left Apogee with a pony that would provide her with a better life.
There was no reason for her to think that Jet would abuse Apogee, since he never “abused” her.
No he didn’t have to get a lawyer involved to get to see her?
Also, Delta was pretty “happy” about Apogee finding her after all these years.
And if you want to go this way, I think that Delta didn’t wanted for her daughter to find her. Because she didn’t wanted Apogee to see how terrible her mother’s life is.
Because Delta is a person who rather to drink her problems away and hope they fade away rather than having the courage to face them.
She literally refused to fight for her good, she just RUN AWAY (TWICE if fics are still canon).
On top of that she left Apogee with a man that “ruined her”.
It means that either she deliberately left her only daughter to a man that “is evil”, or that she wasn’t thinking at all and she just run away brainlessly.
And on top of that there is no indication that she checked on Apogee, to see if Jet “abuses” her.
There’s NOTHING to indicate that she missed her during these 10 years. (or at least I do not remember any)
Seriously, why Delta cannot just say to Apogee to leave her alone?
I think delta made a good call honestly. she lost her shit, realized her relationship was toxic and abusive, and noped the fuck out. maybe delta didn’t realize she was the toxic one, but she still did the right thing.
would you want a bad mother to be your mother for 10 years? how f-ed up would apogee have become, if delta forced herself to stay?

That she had to be “discovered” by Apogee, instead of Delta wanting herself to be found?
That Jet had to use fucking lawyer to force her to see her?
That despite Apogee idolizing her, her usual behaviour upon seeing her daughter is “oh great, that asshole droped that brat again”?
The point that I’m saying is that Delta is NOT a good mother, and such having “headcanon justifications” like “she totally doesn’t want to hurt Apogee with personal vendetta” is simply wishful thinking, especially considering that retcons are abound.
And then Apogee was born after she was conceived by waffles, new headcanon accepted lol
