Even still, the show hasn’t delved into what exactly is an ‘alicorn’. Faust has said a few things…but as I’ve repeatedly stated: It doesn’t matter. If it isn’t in the show, then it isn’t canon.

Never have I seen a fandom blur fanon with canon so easily.
 
I wonder how the fans would react if popular fanon comes up in season 4?

There’s also the fact that Faust didn’t want Twilight to be an Alicorn. She didn’t want CADANCE to be an Alicorn. If it were up to her, only Celestia and Luna would be.

Her role was played by Rarity. We don’t know what exactly she and the other casts of Hearth Warming Eve actually looked like.

My only problem with this is that nopony are going to treat Twilight like crap like they used to. Twilight being teased and made fun of just like any other pony was the spice of life in this show IMO.

They’ll just make flat long hair and give most of the work to those who’ll buy it. But I would like to see an earth ponies get it just to prove that it is within everypony’s reach if it is not that special.

Yeah that is a good question. And one that should have been answered before making Twilight an Alicorn.

I like Final Fantasy 4 and I see this the same as Cecil changing from Dark-Knight to Paladin-hood and eventually king-hood.
 
I would like the idea that in season 4, should Twilight decide to continue living casually in Ponyville with her friends, she will have to relinquish her wings unless she’s on royal duty. Celestia appears in Ponyville and other places as a Princess because everypony knows she is a princess and those were royal visit and when she had to assert authority.  
Some royalties in many franchise and drama try to make themselves look casual either as a alias for protection or for sneaking away from royal duties(like what Faris from Final Fantasy 5 does, and continued as a pirate.), or for fitting in.
 
Ariel from Little Mermaid was granted human leg by her father so she could marry the prince in the end of the first movie. In the second movie, she got her fish tail back.

That actually a very good point you have there, if only unicorn can ascend to alicorn class, is it rather unfair for earth ponies/pegasis. People can’t just say it is because twilight is Celestia special student because it is a magic school so whoever get accepted is necessarily a unicorn.

Well starting out with the fact that this means Pegasi and Earth Ponies are considered inferior races if they can’t “ascend” like that, and that their intrinsic abilities (flight, weather manipulation, connection with nature) are able to be mirrored without even trying.

Cadance actually seems to be about the same age as Shining Armor, as she was a teenager at the same time.

There’s evidence that she’s quite young. She was a teen when Twi was a filly

There’s technically no evidence that Cadence is very old, even if Celestia and Luna are over a thousand years old.

Maybe Alicorns are born in different ways. This seems to be some kind of ritual or prophecy that Twi is completing, so maybe her ascention is different to someone like Cadance’s. Maybe Cay was BORN an alicorn.

But then I think we go back to an/the earlier point on what Candance did to achieve her Alicorn status. Besides being a likely heir to the Crystal Throne.

I don’t particularly think so. I think being an alicorn princess is like a status symbol. Like being knighted or obtaining a doctorate. That’s what the article we got seemed to be implying. All Equestrian Princesses are leaders, but not all Equestrian Princesses are royalty. Princess is just a title.
 
We’ve seen a princess who ISN’T an alicorn after all. Platinum.

Somehow, I have the weird image of Cadence being something of a result of House Targaryen, except the genes got out more…

Really, I’m just interested in seeing how Larson and Meghan are gonna pull this off. They seem confident. (to the point where it seemed like they KNEW how the news of Alicorn!Twi would make us react)
