Not sure what you mean. The fandom has had it’s own share of downers from the very beginning. The only thing that’s really changed is that the fandom isn’t “shiny and new.” But that’s what makes this gif great, it’s to welcome new bronies to the herd so that those of us who have grown comfortable can relieve some of that “first time magic” through them.
 
It’s like Christmas. Sure as you get older it’s not quite the same as coming down the stairs to see all the new toys beneath the shining tree as the snow gently falls outside . . . but then when you have kids of your own you get to see that same wonder in THEIR eyes.

I was a member of the furry fandom for years but I didn’t comment or anything it wasn’t until becoming a brony that I left my first comment on the internet ever I would have gotten involved on FA but it was… harsh to say the least very tough crowd that lot but when I saw Derpibooru the atmosphere seemed to be far more inviting and fun and honestly it is at least compared to what FA was like but the longer your in something the more you start see of it.

I came in knowing what I was in for. I understand that the people in this fandom are the exact same as any other, so I expect everyone to act human. And low and behold they do.

It doesn’t seem any different to me. I’ve been in the fandom since 2011, and it hasn’t changed a bit. The same type of people join, and the same things are posted, it’s just nostalgia clouding your mind. You remember the good more than the bad.

For me it was just the fan content on youtube that got me interested in the show then I found Derpibooru and started loving it even more the comments were funny and you could post images in the comments which were also funny but after a few months the general negativity of a lot of the users here brought it down a bit and now it seems to make up 80% of everything I see here.

I guess the first year of my pony interest I was predominantly on Equestria Daily and seeing the sugar coated 99% SFW side of the fandom.
 
Then I discover derpibooru, FIMfiction, the /boards etc and see the real deal lol.

Oh all of you are just being sourpusses. My life wouldn’t be near as good as it is if not for this fandom. Like it or not, you are a part of something that’s changed many lives for the better.
