Description

subscribe to all that. I still like the notion of a pair of enemies who got together purely due to unresolved sexual tension and popped out some kids as a result. In my universe, Daring and Ahuizotl still come to blows but less often than before since the kids are watching~

ANYWAY! Introducing my daringzotl kids, Chac and Tlaloc. Note: I usually draw from the bottom up so please keep that in mind as I explain.

1: Chac and Tlaloc as cubs. They liked to stick together and held hands whenever possible. They are fraternal twins and are very different in terms of preferences. Chac is a fluffy cub and hates water since it makes him too heavy to fly. Tlaloc, on the other hand, hates being too high up as it makes her coat itchy. I’ll make a thing for Chac later.

2: Chac and Tlaloc’s front paws. Despite having hands, the mythical creature by the same name is described as a kind ‘water dog’ so I thought paws fit more. Tlaloc has a lot more dexterity than her brother, much to his annoyance.

3: Chac and Tlaloc’s face markings. They were born with them. It was hard to choose but I like them.

4: Tlaloc swimming. I read up on Ahuizotl’s (the species) and they seem to be aquatic creatures so I took that as inspiration for this chick, Tlaloc. She has a long and smooth body, like a otter, cause she is the more aquatic of the two. She has flaps in her ears and nose to keep water out and she uses her tail to propel herself. On her back are some flaps that unfold into fins when she’s in water. She uses these to maneuver when she is swimming at high speeds. Her brother is more pony-ish and has similarly beneficial traits.

5: Tlaloc’s tail. It is usually pressed together like a spear but unfolds into three ‘fingers’. She has less dexterity on this ‘hand’ than her brother but that is because the appendage is mostly used for swimming. She finds it hard to hold things with this ‘hand’ and rarely unfolds it outside water.

6: My final draft of Tlaloc. I initially considered giving her hair but thought ‘nah’ after consider her nature as an aquatic being. Having hair would get in the way and realistically, an Ahuizotl wouldn’t have such a thing so why include it. So, yeah, she’s bald. You also get to see her fins pressed against her back and her folded tail. I couldn’t think of a color scheme for either of them so she’ll just be purple for now until I can think of something.

7: My first draft of Tlaloc. From the beginning, I wanted her to have wings but water wings. She was never meant to fly but I thought having fin/wings would make swimming easier. Here, I tried to give her fins like a flying fish but… I didn’t like it~ Outside that, not much else changed.

On the subject of their names, I chose to give them the names of Aztec and Mayan gods for… obvious reasons. Mostly, I liked them and they fit what I wanted for their characters.
