Because self-inserting and mixed media are “le bad”, despite how everyone loves the mixed media in TAWOG, and how pony plushophilia (which is even more aggressive self-inserting) is quite loved. People have been brainwashed by cringe culture to dislike things without slowing down to think about them on a deeper level. Transgressive and performative art once needed to get deep into the audience’s subconscious to stir ’em up, but most zoomers and millennials are weak. We need to bring back the Beat Generation (specifically artists like William S. Burroughs). That is TRUE shock value.
