Yeah, Fluttershy has always been the fandom’s darling right from her first squeak on camera and any poll that she was in, she was gonna take the W and fly away with it with Derpy most likely giving her a run for her money.
I think even if a modern poll would be made about best FIM characters years after it ended, she’d most likely still be at the top even with stiffer competition like Starlight, Trixie, Autumn Blaze, etc.
Edit: Feels weird saying this historical retrospective surrounded by all these old golden age fandom comments from around the time of the poll. :V

They allowed anyone to vote more than once. Once Fluttershy was far ahead in the lead, it was obvious that the others would never catch up unless their fans were just as dedicated.

Well. Here is some reasons why I HATE Shy and why I like:  
+:  
  • She’s (in my opinion) best pony’s friend from childhood.  
  • She has very adorable brother,but he’s acting strange.  
  • She has beautiful singing voice. (But Dash has better 😊)  
  • She always saying sorry.  
  • She’s so cute,kind and sweet.  
    -:  
  • She can make somepony cry (Like this one in ,,Putting your hoof down” or in ,,Tanks for the memories”)  
  • She can sometimes hurt somepony. (Emotionally and/or psychically)  
  • She’s sometimes afraid of trying new things (like Nightmare Night or Dragon Migration).  
  • In her every single episode is the same lesson: Be assertive finally goddamnit!
