that can work.
but i chose that way because at the final battle, luna can coment how she wanted to be as big and strong like her sister, so she will do a body buff getting as big like celestia.
then at the end celestia was going to claim how if she wasnt sick, how she could have been defeated celestia with out the need of the buff.

and because at the end, when kenshiro defeat celestia, she rise the sun again, bringing back light and hope to equestria.
