my parents: the opposite sex one said nada, zip, nothing, and the same sex one said they weren’t going to kill me for catching me diddlin, then gave me a book on the subject and that was it.

I don’t think I’ve ever heard of anyone being shocked or anything finding out about sex and shit. I can’t even remember how or when I got that knowledge, but it sure wasn’t from an awkward conversation with my parents and it sure wasn’t the least traumatizing.
 
But I guess we have a different view on sex over here in filthy Europe, whilst you murricans are more sensitive of that stuff.
