Indeed. Also, the negative comments about EqG below are kinda funny to look back on too, seeing how much more popular that series has gotten now. Especially, the character of Sunset Shimmer.
I even see some bronies nowadays saying they prefer the EqG movies & shorts to the main MLP:FiM show.
Edited
Not really, as CD-I Zelda wasn’t even really a “spin-off.” (A video game spinoff would be something like “Hyrule Warriors,” or the Japan/Euro Tingle games.) So it’s not a very good comparison.
I’m often surprised at how many people never played a Zelda game before “Ocarina of Time,” or are even aware there were Zelda games before it.
But overall, the CD-I Zelda games made by Philips aren’t even considered “spin-offs,” nor even real Zelda games.
Yeah, you tell them, buddy!
I think it’s kinda unfair to compare the 2, because video games, and cartoons aren’t the same thing.
Not to mention CD-I Zelda wasn’t even made by Nintendo, or the original Zelda team, yet “Equestria Girls” was made by DHX, and the people behind the MLP:FiM show. I felt E.G. wasn’t that bad honestly. It’s not the “best episode ever,” but I don’t find it “shitty.” Plus, it was kinda interesting to see what the pony characters would be like as humans, and they still felt in-character to me personally. (I suppose they could’ve done better then the cliche’ “high school” plot, but eh, it could’ve been alot worse.)
Eh, for me it doesn’t have to be “better” then the show. It felt like a longer episode of the TV series, which made it ok with me.
Besides the GameCube “Animal Crossing” had N64-quality graphics (seeing as it was a remake of the first Japan-only N64 AC game) and it was a pretty well beloved game.
It wasn’t that bad. The problem is that it wasn’t any better than the show, despite all the time, money, and hype that went into it. It’d be like a new Zelda coming out for the Wii U with the same low-res graphics as Ocarina of Time.
True, but the badly-done FMV scenes in the Philips Zelda games, were arguably the best reason to see/play them.
Still, I don’t think E.G. was that bad.
Nope. It’s a PREQUEL, not a REBOOT.
Same. It turned out much better then I expected. Surprised to see some are still trying to stir up drama about it.
@DanielTepesKraus
I don’t know, saying every Zelda game is like “Link to the Past,” is like saying every Mario game is like SMB1. (“Majora’s Mask” & “Windwaker” certainly wasn’t like “Link to the Past.”)
Also, I can think of alot of music tracks in every Zelda game, that wasn’t from a previous game in the series. I don’t recall the creepy “Forest Temple” music being in “Link to the Past.
Personally, I like music remixes in games. It’s a nice homage/call-back to earlier installments. (In fact, I wish the Sonic series had more of those. The “Sonic Generations” soundtrack was great.)
Ocarina of Time is a reboot?
…Even shittier zero-effort shitposts like this.
yawn Alright, dear, I’ll get the Element of Magic.
That Night
Wake up, Granny Smith! We’re going to the Crystal Empire!
