@bboifatz They’re out of touch with how everyone reacts, they can’t even figure out why the Joes series has lost its steam while Transformers mostly hasn’t when they own both properties and both hit nearly the same demographics.

Hasbro isn’t dividing the fans up, the fans are dividing themselves up over certain things.  
Also, Hasbro shouldn’t have to be worried about how bronies think/react constantly, as they aren’t their main target audience.

Like so many of their mistakes, it would have been a lot easier if they hadn’t made the fans mad in the first place instead of doing something stupid and then dividing the fanbase.
 
Just like Twilicorn, we are stuck with it now because if they change it back, we’d have almost as many spaghetti lords complaining that they liked the change as when they had fans complaining they hated it when they first introduced it. Most of these no-win scenarios were created by Hasbro because they are out of touch with how the fandom reacts to things.

Well, unfortunately they’re not allowed to use the name, even if they want to. Thanks to some internet definitions saying it means “retarded,” (even if most of us don’t consider it that) so some overly-P.C. people would likely still gripe about it even if the name is put back. So we can’t win either way.
 
I say just call her “Ditzy-Doo,” and use “Derpy” as a fan nickname, if they’re afraid to use it. It looks so weird when merchandice calls her “I HEART PONY,” or “Fan favorite pony!” Or go out of their way to not name her.  
Though, I think they’re afraid to call her “Ditzy-Doo,” as well, sense some fans’ll likely get mad about that to. It’s a lose-lose situation, no matter what she’s called.
