It’s just plain out of date, like the vast majority of fashion in history.
And anyway, without a sharp suit of matching color and a slim body shape it doesn’t really fit anyone.

I should add my boyfriend has a fedora himself and I think it looks fine on him. Sadly I do have to tell him to not post any photos of himself wearing it because… he is rather overweight so I get the feeling a pic of him in his fedora would end up getting posted on a “point and laugh at the fat nerd” site. (I don’t care that he’s fat, I think he’s a cutey, and plus I’d be a huge hypocrite if I had a “no fat dudes” rule because I’m a fat chick)

Indeed, not sure if I should blame all of the guys who overused it on dating site profile pictures, or the fellow females who were all like “lol what a bunch of dorks” and decided to make blogs showcasing said pictures.

I have to say that… I don’t know if you’re being serious right now.

Redminus has jumped on the “hate art” bandwagon. I used to think he was good until this.

Hate speech is prohibited against certain protected groups so hateful people keep finding unprotected groups to attack, even if said groups are a bit ridiculous to single out. Fedoras? How random.

I finally did research on why the fedora seems to get a lot of hate and apparently one of the original reasons was because guys on dating sites kept posting profile pictures of them wearing fedoras in an attempt to have an “old fashioned charm” to them (since the fedora was popular in the early 20th century, and got some extra popularity later in said century when Indiana Jones wore one). The problem was that a lot of the women on these sites got to sick of seeing every guy wearing this hat (with or without an “old school detective” suit to go along with it) that they started up blogs dedicated to “hey check out these losers thinking they’ll win us over with something their grandpa probably wore.”

Now I’m not sure how the fedora eventually became associated with “fat” and/or “neckbeard” nerds, but after at least learning how the fedora became mocked I can kinda see why people now use it as a way of saying “look at this loser.”

I have a fedora, but I don’t wear it all the time, because I have many hats in my wardrobe.

Imagine wearing fedoras AND socks with sandals at the same time? Fashion Disaster, Rarity would annihilate with Exterminatus.

These days, the fedora carries around the stink of “The Unsavory”. Much how society judges an entire personality on a single accessory or TV show, the fedora shows up on the egotistical and less on the fashionable. I’m sure people will link examples in time.
