The Emperor would be proud of Xcom.
Try and think for a moment which of these two probably came earlier, the genocidal alien terror or the “no aliens” sign. You have two attempts.
again, when the only aliens you know of are trying to murder you for no apparent reason, some amount of xenophobia is to be expected.
Well, considering the no aliens sign on the Skyranger…
I don’t think they’re anymore xenophobic assholes than anyone else who was attacked unprovoked by an unknown, vastly superior enemy for incomprehensible reasons.
Presumably the aliens had a method of stabilizing it in the theoretical “Sweet Spot” atomic structure that vastly expanded it’s half-life and enabled exploitation of it’s unique properties.
I have to admit, I wouldn’t be surprised at all if XCOM actually began trying to find ways to utilize Twilight’s psionic abilities for themselves.
Elerium having unnatural properties doesn’t bug me that much- we’ve actually synthesized Element 115 in real life; for the half-second it existed, it didn’t really behave like Elerium would actually need to.
Personally, I think it’s better for the fic as a whole than sticking to the original XCOM plot and tech line. Having the alien Elerium based tech be actually ‘field’ harnessing circuitry and explaining unicorn magic use as an innate ability to shape said field isn’t a bad idea, it goes well with the scientific approach of the story and makes the crossover of the three different cultures (Earth, aliens and Equestria) more palatable. Sadly, the story has been losing its dynamic lately, but it seems to be picking the pace back up if the last chapter is any indication.
That’s not exactly a fortunate choice of words, even a mediocre crossover would stand out in the sea of hellish crossover shitfics, but this one is legitimately good - despite being a crossover.
yeah it is, one of the better crossovers I’ve read.
The fanfic is actually pretty good.
