Super elite student being groomed for princesshood is still a big damn leap from actually being a princess status wise. It’s like when the apollo astronauts a couple of days from launch- they were still on earth and no closer to the moon than anybody else. Big status change a few days later.

She was the protege of the ruling princess of the land (though Luna, after her return, probably has nearly equal power to Celestia) and apparently being groomed to be her successor, going by both what’s happened in the show and what Lauren Faust said her plans were.

I don’t know, Twilight seems to have very powerful magic similar to Celestia’s. Twilight might not move the celestial bodies but who knows if she’ll do anything much better than moving the sun and moon?

She’s not Celestia’s equal, not yet. That’s why Celestia wore an even bigger crown during the coronation. Celestia is still alpha-princess, if only they could just call her a queen.

After seeing that I knew she changed a lot. Some say she hasn’t I honk she has. Sure maybe she does deserves it but now she will be praised and celebrated just as much as her friends even when they might have accomplished some feats even bigger than what Twilight accomplished. So on short Twilight will be remembered the most while her friends will be forgotten.

But it IS an incremental change! If you think about to for a second, Twilight was NEVER treated like a god like Celestia, Luna, and Cadence are. She was and wanted to be treated like everypony else and she showed that in episode 6 of S1. But until the S3 finale she ACCEPTS the bows from her friends and even the Celestia

Twilight’s always been a little bit “higher” than her friends, what with being the protege of Princess Celestia and the Element of Magic with the Big Crown Thingy. She’s a bit “higher” again now, yes, but it’s an incremental change, like going from level 8 to level 9 while her friends are level 6 or 7, not like going from level 1 to level 9 while her friends are stuck at level 1.

Not to mention she is now higher than them and any other pony in the series. The only ones that are ACTUALLY equal to her are Celestia, Luna, Cadence, and Shining Armour. They say that all the characters are equal in the show… It’s a lie. No pony is ever equal to an almighty powerful alicorn princess such as the four. It’s sad to see the other 5 as well as so many others become lower than her now.

As much as I would like for that to be true, the facebook page where this was posted lists four choices: Pinkie Pie, Fluttershy, Rarity, or Rainbow Dash. I’d love for someone to chime in after this bit of dialogue and mention how vainglorious it sounds, but I’m not going to be crushed if it doesn’t happen.

It would be funny if Twilight commissioned windows for each of the other Mane 6: Rainbow Dash for her Sonic Rainboom, Fluttershy for reforming Discord, Applejack for defeating the timber wolves, Pinkie Pie for getting rid of the parasprites, Rarity for giving her friends fancy gala dresses and other acts of generosity. Or maybe windows symbolizing her friends’ elements. (Personally, I’d find it amusing if the Canterlot elite became scandalized over Twilight installing a window honoring Zecora: “What’s that zebra doing here? And why does it look like she’s… teaching our princess?”)
