My friend, you are completely oblivious to the current upgrades and modification to the M16 platform.
At this point, it is only slightly less reliable than an AK, and with much better accuracy at long range.
I’d still take an M1911 any day though.

The m16a1 of the vietnam war had massive problems but the m16a4 has probably fixed these issues completely. Same can be said about the m4a1.
It’s not a DMR and its a rifle made in 1947 so of course its not going to live up to the m4 or m16.
The AK-101 or AK12 is something more suitable to compare it to. The ak47 in its short existence has caused more death than any other weapon in the modern world and has been used in countless revolutions. I agree its not as good as an m16a4 or m4ai but its still to be admired as a part of history.

Any firearm connoisseur would take a 47 over the majority of other assault rifles.
It was designed to be cheap and reliable, and it’s very good at that. As far as long-range accuracy, not so much. It depends on where your priorities lay.
I would argue there isn’t anything wrong with the ak47 or its many derivatives.
