Charity work and doing good is not good enough for Ponett, because it’s bronies doing it.
Indeed, I remember seeing reference to that before. In a way, it kind of affirms my view that Rule 34 is a natural and even healthy occurrence among fandoms. As we saw in that list, not even creators are immune to it.
After all, we’re all humans, and humans have had a fascination with sex hardcoded into their brains by millions of years of evolution. Obviously we all approach it differently as individuals, but the interest is there.
Thanks, it’s really nice to hear that. :)
Heh, doesn’t surprise me that he hates Atryl. He’d probably hate me just for drawing an anthropomorphic Luna in a bikini before.
Y’know, alot of famous artists/cartoonists have drawn some things that could be considered “lewd,” even Dr. Seuss, and Carl Barks. (See the link I provided there?) So if they’re going to hate a few pony fanarts for drawing “questionable” things, they’d have to hate alot of famous artists to.
Now that is the right attitude to have. I applaud you, sir.
I admit, I myself enjoy clopfics and clop art on a regular basis. But of course, I only talk about it under the appropriate circumstances, and I never assume that other people are into it.
That makes sense. It reminds me of this one shot that he took at Atryl. Blizzard Entertainment interviewed Atryl and posted an article on their site featuring his art (he does quite a lot of awesome fanart of their games), and Ponett’s response was something to the effect of “Ugh. I can’t believe they’re glorifying the guy who did ponified porn of the Dashcon ball pit”.
…In fact, all of his shots that he takes at Atryl focus solely on that one picture. Whenever someone talk about how skilled Atryl is as an artist, Ponett always points to that picture of the ponified Dashcon ball pit. I roll my eyes whenever he does that. I mean really, who cares if an artist draws a silly satirical porn pic in their spare time? What does it matter?
To be honest, I don’t like MLP fan-porn. (A li’l risque’ anthro/humanized fanart is fine, but I don’t dig the “hardcore” stuff.) However, I have nothing against those that do make it, or those that like it.
One of the first bronies I talked to online was a “clopper,” and he was polite, respected that I didn’t like the porn, didn’t talk about anything gross, or anything. We just discussed the show, and such.
I’ve seen Ponett take shots at J.J. all the time, (much like how P.P., and other crazy Tumblr straight-edge haters have) especially for those reasons, but he comes off as mostly like “sour grapes,” like he has a personal grudge against him just for being “popular.” (Not like J.J. asked to be.) Not so much for being “jealous,” (though, that may be a small factor…) but because he doesn’t think a “clop-artist” like J.J. deserves to be “popular,” and judges the entire fanbase also on that. Like we’re all “perverts” for making him popular… (It’s not like he’s the only popular artist around, and it’s not like every brony loves him.)
Now I don’t care for J.J.‘s “perv’y” stuff either, but even I can’t deny he’s a good artist, and I like his SFW/cleaner stuff.
Y’know, ironically some of the people who preach against the pony porn, make some themselves… (Or make porn of other “kid-friendly/family” TV shows/movies/games.)
There was one girl on DA (I can’t remember her name) who notoriously remarked that she wanted “J.J. to die like his father,” and said she hated bronies for the porn… Ironically, a brony did research on her, she drew some rather lewd herself of pony characters…
Another ironic thing is, she also remarked that she hated bronies for making lots of “pony yuri,” but she herself liked “yaoi,” and wanted to see more of that in the pony fanbase.
One thing I especially dislike about Ponett (and several other folks like him) is his complete and total demonization of folks who make objectionable content. I mean, it’s perfectly okay to not like porn. Not everyone is into that sort of thing. But he goes a step further and calls the creators themselves “reprehensible” and “trash” simply because they make content he doesn’t happen to like, regardless of what kind of people the creators actually are or what other stuff they make.
People should never be morally judged by the content they create. Content is not an indication of personal character.
Yeah, I mean it’s understandable for people to change their minds on some things, but to go 1080 completely on many things is a pretty confusing thing.
It’s no big deal, we broke up years ago.
Yeah, it’s a mystery as to why some people act like that. Perhaps one that’s better left unsolved. I think they’re a living example of why it’s important to be positive, open-minded, and tolerant.
My condolences about your relationship. :(
Yeah, did a brony eat his dog, or something? (Or does Tumblr have a way of brainwashing people?)
I hear CR used to actually defend the show from people claiming it was going to “get bad” after Lauren Faust left. (Then he became those people.)
Funny how some people do a whole 1080* like that. My ex-girlfriend and I used to agree on many things, then later she changed her mind on almost everything, and then we didn’t agree with anything at all. (Though, the main reason we broke up was, because we lived so far away, and we didn’t talk much anymore. We didn’t really “break-up,” we just sort of disconnected sadly.)
Ironically, Ponett here actually used to defend the term “brony” against the very sort of bile that he slings against it nowadays. Truly bizarre…
Really? He made that Ken Penders blog? Never would’ve expected he was an Archie Sonic fan. While I like that series to, (and I dislike how Ken screwed up the Sonic comic’s continuity with his legal drama) it’s kinda hard for me to respect somebody who’d blindly hate me for liking the exact same show he does… (And ironically, Ponett made that “Lesbian Horse RPG” fan-game. That’s more “brony” then anything I ever made. So he’s really one to act like he’s “a better fan then a brony”)
I never really liked people trying to attach a stigma to the term “brony,” and pulling that self-righteous “be a fan, not a brony” logic. (What’s the difference? Some “fans” can be obnoxious to.)
I mean you don’t have to call yourself a “brony” to be a fan of MLP, but to act like that makes you a “better fan,” because you don’t wish to use the label, (and demonize those that do use said label) then that’s quite petty, and makes you look egotistical.
@LanceOmikron
Yeah, he’s not worth it, but I guess I can understand your fascination with people like that. I often wonder myself what makes them “tick,” or why they have such odd logic, why they hate, and such.
I admit, I have a bad habit of sometimes checking his main blog out of pure Bile Fascination. I get very curious about whether he can keep breaking his record for being horrible and alienating. Really though, I just need to kick the habit. It’s not worth it. >_>
It’s kinda like how I still like watching Jerry Peet’s videos and think he does solid work with them, but think he himself behaves like… I’d rather not say.
Firstly, while I’m saddened to hear what you went through, after reading through your post, I can only be glad that things are better for you now (at least, I’m hoping they are). I just wish more people could see your words, and actually take them to heart, and understand that a person isn’t a “good person” because of what they say, but what they actually accomplish.
As someone who lived 2 years homeless and in-debt, I can assure you this statement is very immoral and only promotes a greedy spirit. When we lost our house, my family had to live off of whatever donations we were given, what my middle school provided me with, and the services others provided at our local shelter. We didn’t live in a very good part of town either, so I was told to sleep close to my mother so me and my dad could keep her safe at night when we couldn’t keep a full eye on her. The only place I ever felt safe at was school but even at that I kept mostly to myself because I was afraid of what other people would think of me if I ever said anything about what happened to us. (I didn’t have any close friends back then so I was at least spared the trouble of telling them my financial status and having to worry about it leaking out to other people.)
When you’re in that bad of a position, the last thing you think about is “wow what if one of the people that donates my food/clothes/toiletries just goes off somewhere and brags about how they helped me and other people”. No. When you’re in that condition, you’re absolutely looking for nearly any and every opportunity you can take to get out of it so you can live with a feeling of security again.
It’s absolutely absurd to me that anyone would think someone who gives nothing and says “I’d donate but I have
betterother ‘priorities’ in my life, but I’ll totally donate all my money once I have some ready to give” is better than someone who donates even a little bit and then brags to all their friends about it. Actions speak much louder than words. I hope that anyone else who donated to the Moore family or to other charitable causes knows that, no matter how much they gave.I am still thankful to this day that we didn’t have to live a 3rd year in debt as well as for the firsthand experience of seeing what debt and other tragedies can to do other people. I don’t think I’ll ever forget those years for the rest of my life.
Gotcha.
It appeared more like you addressing SJWs and less like you quoting them.
Quotation marks are important when quoting.
Nice one…
I understand the brony fandom is not a “utopia,” and there’s some bronies who are A-holes, and such, but seriously… What is with all these bronies/MLP-fans who hate all other bronies/MLP-fans, and constantly “preach” against them, when they like/do all the same things bronies do? I don’t “get it.”
You don’t have to call yourself a “brony” to be a fan of MLP, but to act “superior,” because of that is quite petty to…
Also, if all you do is bash an entire fandom constantly, don’t be surprised if said fandom reacts negatively to you. If you leave bronies alone, chances are they’ll leave you alone… I have rarely had bad experiences in this fandom. Worst being just some of the EG/alicorn drama, and such.
Its mentioned on the super lesbian horse rpg. Its the reason people get so pissed with him, more so than with other DWm supporters
Do you have a source for that claim, that Ponett didn’t care about APM and just joined the Down With Molestia group to take an overrated artist down?
This is a good example.
