I know this was from 4 years ago, but I kinda want to clarify something.
I said she gave off the impression of being more grounded in reality, not that she actually was.
I don’t know, I think she’s got her flights of fancy when it suits her. Just think of how silly she was in Look Before You Sleep, or Lesson Zero. She has at times been shallow and vain, and at other times been deep and fascinating. They all oscillate in similar ways, unfortunately. Personally, I’d prefer just a hair less of that “Pnkie then follows a stray balloon without even finishing her sentence” stuff.

Though I can see why some may believe that. Why Rarity is no more or less developed than the rest of the non-Twilight Mane 6, her character does give the impression of being more grounded in reality, thus giving the illusion of greater depth.
