All I want to know is if he is actually doing anything (or trying to). He can placate me for a week or two on a promise, but after that it’ll take more to convince me that progress is being made.

I’d say he gets at least a week until we should start questioning him via Twitter or email.
People should be held accountable for their promises.

So true. It’s not the end of Button; as long as fanworks like this still comes in.
IMO we can even use this opportunity to make him an even more prominent fan favorite through arts and animations. :)
