They seem to want to ride it for the long term and prefer licensing the franchise to making things themselves. That seems to be true in general.
 
IIRC, the reason why FiM makes so much money is because of international distribution rights being sold. I’m trying to think of a place that FiM doesn’t air and I can’t recall any. I think Turkey took it off the air after censoring/refusing to air like six or seven episodes, though.

Yes, that’s the thinking. That media sells toys and toys sell media. Though, honestly, hasbro is not new at this. They have board games, they used to do video games, they’ve always been kind of decent at looking at new markets to expand into.
 
Having adult male fans is a blessing but it’s not going to shift their whole business strategy. It just diversifies things and re-enforces how important it is to snag new demographics and the like.
 
Again, I don’t mean to intimate that I somehow have some high level talks with execs or anything. Pretty much any info I’m released is probably already posted elsewhere to read.
 
But yeah, they are most concerned with media right now. Toys support and follow media.

I could be a fucking shareholder. With just ONE share I would receive that report. It’s not anything outlandish or special.

Oh yeah, it’s a valid resource. Maybe if I was an exec I’d get more info. I just get the standard trade stuff and info. They don’t spend alot of time talking specifically about bronies.
 
Maybe higher up they do? I doubt they are basing an empire on it though.

Is it because they’re expanding beyond toys? Last time I checked, Hasbro was a safer investment than Mattel because the latter has almost no plans for media.

Hasbro has done this three separate times. Only one of them even came close to FiM’s level of success, and “close” is being very generous.

I’m serious though, you only need 1000 dollars to start an etrade account. I mean, I wouldn’t bother with such a low amount of money and you’re better off with more long term goals like energy stocks but yeah… investing is not very hard.

But more than anything, Hasbro benefits from the adult audience putting their product into the popular culture of the day.

Yes. Anyone can start a trade account and buy stock in a publicly traded company. I’ve been doing it for many years now. Hasbro is a decent mid-term investment for the next 7 years or so.

The article o the washington posts is just a bunch of speculations. The only actual fact it states is that sales have gone up fo Hasbro. EVERYTING else is highly speculative.  
Guess nowadays everything counts as journalism, even specualtive bullshit without any facts.

I wanna see how many other companies launch “girly” products/show and miss what makes FIM popular.

I’m a shareholder and if you think it’s just bronies you’re dead wrong. It’s their emphasis on media and fluid toy development.
 
I’m not saying bronies don’t play a part but it comes up way, way less than you’d think. In fact, it only comes up in this sort of way:
 
“Engaging new demographics and media expansion.”
 
Of which we are one part of many.
