That’s essentially what I was aiming for when I wrote my fic. Aimed to expand on wing language and whatnot (incidentally, that’s where I first came up with the feathermarking idea).
@Tchernobog
People just generally don’t take advantage of pegasi having wings for anything but flight and wingboners. :T
Gestures, preening, just generally going “hey, they have an additional set of strong, dexterous limbs. Maybe use them for something.” Hell, people are generally bad about remembering that unicorns can use magic to move things.
Unique species traits, take advantage of them! [/furry rants]
Pretty much all these pics are either requested or commissioned by me. It just hasn’t really caught many eyes yet. I’m still commissioning it because I want to see the different ideas artists come up with!
@Tchernobog
That might be one reason. From the first 30 requests 21 are done or in progress. Posting them early sure helps. (Ironically the very first one wasn’t picked, hehe).
@Tchernobog
It’s certainly a interesting thing to draw it seems. Interesting enough that two different artists picked that sort of request from a large list of requests at Kallisti.
It’s something I came up with in a fanfic I wrote - basically, it’s pegasus body language, using wings. Touching the cutie mark of another pony, with a wing, as a silent show of romantic interest. Can be anything from “Heeey sexy” to “I love you!” or anything in between XD
In this particular picture, Derpy’s trying to do that, but missed due to poor vision :D
From the “marking” part I assumed it had something to do with pheremone glands in the wings, or something.
He has to kinda lean in and down to reach properly. Adorably awkward and not the least bit subtle.
Hee! I assume she’s flying, or he’d have difficulties reaching her. She’s probably shocked stiff XD
Wheee, shock of all shocks, I still can’t draw characters interacting.
Cropped for Fluttershy’s entire front half coming out like complete crap.

Hey Derpy, keep trying! As someone else with (not as severe) depth-perception problems, we must support each other! :)

Yep! :D I think the AppleDash one was an early one, but I was surprised that this one got picked too. Happy, though :D
Some friends of mine are pestering me to request some TwiJack of this too. Or any other pairing :D

Feel free to request it from artists or commission it. I seem to be the only one to be doing so ^^;
The fanfic in question is called “mood wings”, and is on fimfiction.
That’s fucking adorable. I like the sound of it. I wish to see more feathermarking.
@Archonix
To each there own.
